Camelot facts for kids
In the old stories of King Arthur, Camelot is the name of Arthur's famous castle. It's often described as the center of his kingdom, where he ruled and held important meetings with his knights. Camelot is a symbol of a good and fair kingdom, but whether it truly existed is still unknown.
What is Camelot?
Camelot is a legendary castle that appears in many stories about King Arthur and his knights. In these tales, it's where King Arthur lived and made important decisions for his kingdom. It was also the home of many famous items, like the powerful sword Excalibur and the legendary Holy Grail.
The Round Table
One of the most important parts of Camelot was the Round Table. This special table had no head or foot, meaning everyone who sat at it was equal. This showed that King Arthur believed all his knights were equally important. The Round Table brought together Arthur's best knights, like Sir Lancelot, to help him rule and protect the kingdom.
The End of Camelot
The legends say that Camelot eventually faced difficult times. Disagreements and conflicts among some of Arthur's most trusted knights and his queen, Guinevere, caused serious problems. These internal struggles led to a major conflict within the kingdom, which weakened Camelot and brought an end to its golden age.
