Cameron's Early Football Journey
Cameron Faulkner was born on May 22, 1984. He started his football career playing for the Central District Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). This is a strong football league in South Australia.
Joining the Western Bulldogs
Cameron was chosen by the Western Bulldogs in the 2002 National AFL Draft. This is a special event where AFL teams pick new young players. He was the 17th player chosen in that draft. This was a big step for him to play professional football.
Playing for the Western Bulldogs
Cameron made his first game for the Western Bulldogs in 2004. This was in Round 6 against the Kangaroos. He played at Manuka Oval for his debut.
Challenges and Injuries
In 2005, Cameron played in the first four games of the season. However, he later faced some challenges and was out of the team for a while. He returned to play in Round 12.
Later that year, he broke his collarbone in a game against Fremantle. This injury meant he could not play for the rest of the 2005 season.
Battling Back from Injury
The 2006 season was also tough for Cameron. He only played in three games that year. He got another injury, this time to his shoulder, during a game in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The VFL is a league where players often play to get back into form or try to earn a spot in the main AFL team. These injuries made it hard for him to get back into the Western Bulldogs' main team.
Cameron's Playing Style
Even with his injuries, Cameron was known as an exciting player. He was described as a quick small forward or midfielder. This means he was good at running fast and scoring goals. He wore the number 18 jersey for the Western Bulldogs.
End of His AFL Career
After the 2007 AFL season, Cameron Faulkner was delisted by the Western Bulldogs. This means the team decided not to keep him on their player list. He had played only one game in his final year with the team. Overall, he played 18 games and kicked 9 goals for the Western Bulldogs.
Life After AFL
After leaving the Western Bulldogs, Cameron went back to play for his old club, Central District, for a year. Later, he moved to Roxby Downs in South Australia. There, he started playing for the East Roxby Roos. He took on a new role as both a player and a coach for the team.
