Her Music Journey
Early Days
Between 2006 and 2008, Camila was part of a music group called Caramelitus. She formed this duo with Tomás Preuss. They made electronic pop music and received good reviews from music critics.
Becoming Famous
Camila became well-known after she released her first album, Almismotiempo (which means "At-the-same-time"), in 2009. That same year, she was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for her song "Millones." This award is a big honor in Latin music.
Many people say that Camila's voice, folk style, and song lyrics continue the legacy of Violeta Parra. Violeta Parra was a very important Chilean folk artist. Critics have called Camila Moreno the "Chilean revelation of organic rock."
Mala Madre Album
On June 4, 2015, Camila offered her album Mala Madre for free download. It was downloaded 73,500 times in just 24 hours! This was a record in Chile. Camila said this album was a tribute to amazing women she admired. These women included artists like Cecilia Vicuña, Violeta Parra, and writer Gabriela Mistral.
In 2016, Camila won several awards at the Pulsar Awards. She won Best Pop Artist, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. She is also famous for her very creative music videos.
Recent Projects
In 2019, Camila brought back her duo Caramelitus for the Womad festival. Also in 2019, she started a new big project called Pangea. This project included two new albums, many concerts, and a documentary film. The documentary was also called Pangea and was directed by Alberto Hayden.
During a difficult time in Chile in late 2019, Camila took part in several concerts. She used her music to express her feelings and support people.
