Camila Josefa Ramona Pássera (born March 19, 1891, died February 28, 1948) was a famous actress from Argentina. She was very popular in both America and Europe. Camila Quiroga also helped start the "Asociación Argentina de Actores," which is like a special club for actors in Argentina.

Camila Quiroga came to Buenos Aires in 1906. She wanted to become an actress. She first acted with an amateur group called "Compañía Nacional de Aficionados."

Her first professional acting job was in 1909. She joined José Tallavi's acting company. Later, she moved to the Teatro Marconi. There, she met Héctor Quiroga, who became her husband.

A few years later, Camila joined other famous acting groups. She starred in a play called Con las Alas Rotas (which means With Broken Wings). This play was very popular and was performed over 350 times!

Her Own Acting Company

In 1918, Camila Quiroga started her own acting company. Her goal was to share "criollo" theatre with the world. "Criollo" theatre often showed stories and characters from Argentine culture.

She traveled all over the world with her company. They performed in many big cities. These included New York, Paris, Madrid, and Rio de Janeiro. They also visited Lima, Havana, Mexico City, and many more.

Her company performed plays by important Argentine writers. Some of these writers were Roberto Payró and Florencio Sánchez.

Camila and Héctor had a very successful tour in Europe. They were especially popular in Spain, Portugal, and France.

Working with Other Artists

Camila Quiroga worked with many famous artists. She even performed with the legendary Tango singer Carlos Gardel.

She also worked with other great actors. These included Florencio Parravicini and Pablo Podestá. She also worked with the famous poet Alfonsina Storni.

Helping Actors

After some difficult times in 1919, Camila showed her care for social causes. She helped create the Argentine Actors Association. This group helps actors and supports their rights.

Movies and Radio

Besides her many stage plays, Camila Quiroga also acted in movies. She starred in nine films between 1916 and 1918.

One of her most famous movies was Juan Sin Ropa from 1919. This film helped her become known to even more people. She also appeared in movies like Viento Norte.

From the 1930s to the 1940s, Camila also worked on many radio dramas. These were like plays you could listen to on the radio.

Camila Quiroga passed away at 56 years old. Her daughter, Nélida Quiroga, also became an actress. In 1978, Camila Quiroga's childhood home was turned into a museum.
