Camille Benjamin (born February 6, 1966) is an American former professional tennis player. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Camille played tennis professionally from 1981 to 1994.

She is known for reaching the semifinals of the French Open in 1984. This is one of the biggest tournaments in tennis. She played against many top players during her career.

Camille's parents were immigrants from Panama. Her father, Carl Benjamin, was a math professor. He also played college tennis, which might have inspired Camille.

Camille Benjamin played on the WTA tour. This is where professional women tennis players compete. She was a left-handed player and used a two-handed backhand.

Grand Slam Success

Camille had some great moments in the major tennis tournaments, called Grand Slams.

  • At the French Open in 1984, she made it to the semifinals. This means she was one of the last four players left in the tournament. She won several matches against strong opponents before losing to the famous player Chris Evert.
  • She reached the third round at Wimbledon twice, in 1983 and 1984.
  • At the US Open, she made it to the third round three times: in 1985, 1986, and 1989.
  • She also reached the third round of the Australian Open in 1987 and 1989.
