Early Days of Campton
A long time ago, Campton was also known as Camp's Station. This was an earlier name for the area.
Becoming and Un-becoming a Town
In 1905, the government of Georgia officially made Campton a town. This meant it had its own rules and a small area around William F. Camp's store. But in 1995, Campton stopped being an official town. It went back to being an unincorporated community.
