Cana, once known as Missouri Bend, was a small community in Butte County, California. It was located along the old Southern Pacific Railroad line. The area was about 167 feet (51 meters) above sea level.
A Look Back at Cana
Early Days of the Community
Cana had its own post office from 1871 to 1913. It closed for short times in 1895 and 1900.
In the 1870s, stagecoaches traveled through Cana from Chico. Around 100 people lived there then. Most of them were farmers who grew wheat.
