Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña, and Ibias Natural Park

In 2002, a new natural park was created. It is called the Natural Park of Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña, and Ibias. This park covers a huge area of about 550 square kilometers (212 square miles). This natural park helps protect the Muniellos Biosphere Reserve even more. It acts as a buffer zone around the core area.

Even though some landowners had concerns, a plan to manage this protected area was approved in 2006. This helps make sure the park is cared for properly. If you want to learn more about Muniellos, you can visit the Muniellos Visitor Centre. It is located right in Cangas del Narcea.
