Canna is a small town located in the Mid West region of Western Australia. You can find it between the towns of Morawa and Mullewa, right on the Mullewa-Wubin Road. In 2006, about 81 people lived in Canna.

Discovering Canna's History

Canna started out as a railway siding. A railway siding is like a short extra track next to a main railway line. It allows trains to stop or pass each other. The public works department first planned to build a station here called Pindawa.

How Canna Got Its Name

The name Pindawa was thought to be too similar to another town called Pindar. To avoid confusion, officials decided to change the name in 1914. They chose the name Canna instead. The townsite was officially recognized, or gazetted, in 1928. This means it became an official town on the map.

What Canna is Known For

The main activity in Canna is wheat farming. Farmers in the area grow a lot of wheat.

Canna's Role in Farming

Canna is an important spot for farmers because it has a Cooperative Bulk Handling grain receival point. This is a special place where farmers can deliver their harvested grain. The grain is then stored and prepared for transport to other places.
