Canoas is a district located in Costa Rica. It is part of the Corredores canton, which is in the Puntarenas province. A district is like a smaller area within a larger region, similar to a town or a specific part of a county.

History of Canoas
Canoas officially became its own district on October 19, 1973. This happened when a special law, called Ley 5373, was passed. Before this date, Canoas was actually part of the Golfito canton. Think of it like a new town being formed from a piece of an older, larger town.
Geography and Location
Canoas covers an area of about 122.54 square kilometers (which is about 47.3 square miles). It is located at an elevation of 128 meters (about 420 feet) above sea level. This means it's not very high up in the mountains, but it's also not right at the coast.
