Who Was Cao Zhi?
Cao Zhi was born in a place called Anqiu in Shandong, China. He joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in July 1947. This was a big step in his life, as the CCP is the main political party in China.
What Did Cao Zhi Do in Politics?
Cao Zhi held many important jobs during his career. He worked in different departments of the Chinese Communist Party. These roles helped him understand how the country was run.
- From 1978 to 1983, he was the Director of the Research Office for the Organization Department of the CCP Central Committee. This means he helped study and plan how the party was organized.
- Then, from 1983 to 1987, he became the Deputy Head of the same department. He helped lead the work of organizing the party.
- Later, from 1987 to 1988, he was the Deputy Director of the Research Office for the Secretariat of the CCP Central Committee. In this role, he helped with important research and planning for the party's top leaders.
His Role in the National People's Congress
Cao Zhi also played a big part in the National People's Congress (NPC). The NPC is like the parliament of China, where important decisions are made for the country.
- In 1988, he was chosen as the Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the 7th NPC Standing Committee. This was a key role in helping the NPC run smoothly.
- Five years later, in 1993, he became the Secretary General of the 8th NPC Standing Committee. This meant he was in charge of the day-to-day work and administration of the NPC.
- Finally, from 1998 to 2003, he served as one of the Vice Chairmen of the 9th National People's Congress. This was a very high position, showing his importance in the government.
Later Life and Legacy
Cao Zhi passed away in Beijing, China, on July 1, 2020, at the age of 92. Two days later, on July 3, he was buried at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. This cemetery is a special place where important figures in Chinese history are laid to rest. Cao Zhi's long career showed his dedication to public service in China.
