Cardona is a city in southwestern Uruguay. It is located in the Soriano Department. The city's main square is called Plaza Artigas. Here, you can find a monument dedicated to General Artigas.

Where is Cardona?
Cardona is right on the edge of the Colonia Department. It forms one big town with Florencio Sánchez. Florencio Sánchez is just across the border in the Colonia Department. A street called Bulevard Cardona - Florencio Sanchez separates the two parts. This street runs next to the railroad tracks.
Cardona's Story
Cardona was started on October 17, 1903. It was first called a "Pueblo," which means village, in 1910. Later, in 1953, it became a "Villa," or town. Finally, on October 15, 1963, Cardona officially became a "Ciudad," which means city.
