Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-lot is an animated TV show from the United States and Canada. It was made by SD Entertainment and American Greetings. The show aired on CBS from September 15, 2007, to December 6, 2008.

This series is a follow-up to the movie Care Bears: Oopsy Does It!. It was the third TV show about the Care Bears. The first one was made in 1985, and the second in 1986. This 2007 version was created by Sabella Dern Entertainment, the same company that made the Oopsy Does It! movie. The show features fun songs with music by Andy Street and lyrics by Judy Rothman. This series also helped meet rules for TV shows that teach kids.

What is Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-lot About?

This TV show is different from the older Care Bears cartoons from the 1980s. Like the movie Care Bears: Oopsy Does It!, this series shows the Care Bears with new designs. Their special tummy symbols, called "belly badges," also look different. The magical land of Care-a-lot has a new look too!

In this series, the Care Bears mostly interact with each other. They don't usually meet humans or other magical beings like in past shows. The main bad guy is Grizzle, who was also in the Oopsy Does It! movie. He has many robots that help him with his plans.

While many Care Bears appear in the show, the main stories often focus on five special Care Bears. These are Cheer Bear, who leads the group, Share Bear, who loves to grow plants, Grumpy Bear, who is a clever inventor, Funshine Bear, who is full of energy, and Oopsy Bear, who was first seen in the movie. The show's theme song is sung by Kay Hanley.

Meet the Care Bears and Friends!

Main Characters

  • Cheer Bear (voiced by Tabitha St. Germain) is a happy, outgoing, and smart bear. She is a bit of a tomboy but acts like a caring parent to the other Care Bears. She is pink with a rainbow on her tummy. She often helps others when they are not feeling well.
  • Funshine Bear (voiced by Ian James Corlett) is very determined and active. He gets excited about ideas and sticks with them. Sometimes he is a bit too confident, which can cause trouble. He is yellow with a sun on his tummy and wears a red baseball cap.
  • Share Bear (voiced by Tracey Moore) is sweet, a little bit innocent, and loves to grow flowers in her garden. She knows a lot about plants and always carries lollipops to share. She is lavender and has two lollipops crossed on her belly badge.
  • Grumpy Bear (voiced by Scott McNeil) is often grumpy and says what he thinks. But he is also a super inventor! He creates many cool gadgets to make life easier for the Care Bears. He is blue and his belly badge is a rain cloud with heart-shaped raindrops.
  • Oopsy Bear (voiced by Ashleigh Ball) is a bit clumsy and often has accidents. He is light green and doesn't have a real belly badge. He uses a special crayon to draw different pictures on his tummy, like a shooting star. He can change it to show how he feels!

The Villain

  • Grizzle (voiced by Mark Oliver) is the main bad guy. He looks like a brown Care Bear but wears a big metal suit. He doesn't understand caring and wants to take over Care-a-lot. He uses robots and strange machines for his plans, but they often don't work out. He thinks he is very important and often talks to his bird made of spare parts, Mr. Beaks, as if it can talk back.

Supporting Characters

  • Wingnut (voiced by Nathan Wallace) is a robot who used to work for Grizzle. But by the end of the movie Oopsy Does It!, he joined the Care Bears' side. He has a big wingnut on his head and lives with Oopsy. Wingnut can store many items inside himself, like a leaf blower, and can even analyze unknown things!
  • Tenderheart Bear (voiced by Matt Hill) is a great baseball player and loves exciting challenges. He is a good friend to Funshine. He is orange with a red heart belly badge and wears a red heart-shaped backpack.
  • Harmony Bear (voiced by Andrea Libman) believes that everyone, no matter how different, can work together to create something wonderful. She works at the SweetHeart SweetShop and loves making new kinds of candy. She is violet and her belly badge is a smiley flower with colorful petals.
  • True Heart Bear (voiced by Stevie Vallance) is the town's reporter and runs the "Heroes of Care-a-Lot" website. She often carries a laptop and a digital camera. She is a pale pink bear and her belly badge is a heart surrounded by triangle shapes.
  • Wish Bear (voiced by Chiara Zanni) is very close to the Starbuddies and understands them well. She has her own Starbuddy pet named Twinkers. She is turquoise and her belly badge is a shooting star. She also wears a yellow ribbon in her hair.
  • Bedtime Bear (voiced by Richard Ian Cox) is usually asleep during the day, waking up only for short moments to share his thoughts. But at night, he is wide awake! He carries a lantern and makes sure everyone in Care-a-lot is sleeping soundly. He is aqua blue and his belly badge is a sleeping crescent moon with a small star.
  • Surprise Bear (voiced by Kelly Sheridan) loves to be surprised and to surprise others. She often pops up in unexpected places. She is amethyst purple and her belly badge is a star popping out of a jack-in-the-box.
  • Love-a-Lot Bear (voiced by Terri Hawkes) works in the Smart Heart Library. The Care Bears go there to find answers or to have some quiet time. She is magenta pink and her belly badge is two hearts linked together. She often uses the word "love" when she talks.
  • Good Luck Bear (voiced by Samuel Vincent) helps the other bears prepare for celebrations. He is a green bear with a shamrock belly badge.
  • Amigo Bear (voiced by Samuel Vincent) sells ice cream in Care-a-Lot. He is red-orange with a tropical sunflower on his belly badge. He speaks with a Spanish accent and uses Spanish words.
  • Best Friend Bear works at the Grocery Store and believes that friends are forever. She is an orchid-colored bear and her belly badge is a heart and star connected by a rainbow.
  • Laugh-a-Lot Bear loves to make others laugh. She is a dark orange bear and her belly badge is a smiling star with three pink hearts.
  • Friend Bear (voiced by Shannon Chan-Kent) is an amber-colored bear with a flower in her hair. Her belly badge shows two sunflowers linked together.
  • Champ Bear is a very sporty, royal blue bear with a trophy belly badge.
  • Baby Hugs is a light pink bear who lives with her brother Tugs at Cheer's house.
  • Baby Tugs is a light blue bear who lives with his sister Hugs at Cheer's house.
  • Bumpity (voiced by Garry Chalk) and Tweazle (voiced by Shannon Chan-Kent) are cloud-like characters called Nimbettes. They try to help the Care Bears, but sometimes things go wrong. Bumpity is big and sky blue, and Tweazle is small and pink.
  • McKenna (voiced by Chantal Strand) is a human girl who visits Care-a-Lot in some episodes and learns important lessons about caring.

Exploring Care-a-lot

The new Care-a-lot has four main areas:

  • Central Care-a-lot: This is where most of the show happens. It has the Gathering Tree, all the houses, and Harmony's Sweet Shop.
  • Rainshine Meadows: This beautiful place was once messy after a big storm but was cleaned up by the Care Bears. It's a special meadow accessed from behind a waterfall.
  • The Meadow: This is where the Care Bears often play, pick flowers, and go swimming.
  • Grizzle's Lair: This is where Grizzle lives, high above Care-a-lot. He spends his time here planning his evil schemes.

Houses and Buildings in Care-a-lot

The houses in Care-a-lot are unique and show off the personalities of the Care Bears who live in them:

  • Oopsy's Upside-Down House: Oopsy's house looks like it's been flipped over, with the door at the top!
  • Cheer's House
  • Grumpy's Garage/Shop: This is where Grumpy invents all his gadgets. It's blue and decorated with thunderbolts.
  • Share's Garden: This is Share's favorite place, filled with beautiful Lollipop flowers that look like her belly badge.
  • Funshine's Fun-House: Funshine's colorful house has a yellow slide coming out of his bedroom window!
  • Sweetheart Candy Parlor: Harmony Bear runs this shop where she creates all kinds of delicious sweets.
  • Smart Heart Library: Love-a-Lot works here. The Care Bears visit to find answers to questions or to enjoy some quiet time.
  • Care-a-lot Cafe: This cafe is seen in the background and is a local spot for the Care Bears.
