Karl Andreas Bernbrunn (1787–1854) was a famous actor and theatre director. He was born in Kraków and was known by his stage name, Carl Carl.

A Life in Theatre
Carl Bernbrunn started his acting career in Munich. He learned a lot from another actor named Carl Weinmüller.
Becoming a Director
In 1822, Bernbrunn took on a big role. He became the director of the Isartor Theater
in Munich. A theatre director is in charge of everything that happens at a theatre. This includes choosing plays, hiring actors, and managing the business.A few years later, in 1826, he moved to Vienna. There, he became the director of the famous Theater an der Wien. This was a very important theatre.
Owning His Own Theatres
Carl Bernbrunn loved theatre so much that he bought another one! In 1838, he bought the Theater in der Leopoldstadt. He managed both the Theater an der Wien and the Theater in der Leopoldstadt at the same time. He did this until 1845.
Later, the Theater in der Leopoldstadt was taken down. A new theatre was built in its place in 1847. This new theatre was named Carltheater in his honor.
Family Life
While he was in Munich, Carl Bernbrunn married Margarethe Lang. She was also involved in the theatre world.
Carl Bernbrunn passed away on August 14, 1854. He died in Bad Ischl.
