Carl Norac's Early Life

Carl Norac was born in Mons, Belgium. His dad, Pierre Coran, was a poet, and his mom, Irène Coran, was a comedian. When Carl was eight, his family moved to a small village called Erbisoeul.

He studied in Liège and even taught French for a short time. But Carl had a big dream: to travel and write! So, he spent six years exploring the world. During this time, he worked as a writer.

Writing Adventures and Awards

Carl Norac's poetry collection, Le maintien du désordre, won a special award called the Prix Robert Goffin. This showed how talented he was with words.

In 1993, Carl saw a real volcano erupt! This amazing experience inspired him to write a book called Nemo et le volcan. It had wonderful pictures by Louis Joos. This book won the Pomme d'Or, which is a big European award for book illustrations.

A Full-Time Writer

In 1996, Carl Norac started teaching literature at a theater school in Mons. He loved sharing his passion for stories.

In 1999, he moved to France. That same year, his daughter, Else, was born. By the year 2000, Carl became a full-time writer. He mostly creates fun and exciting illustrated books for young people.
