Carlos is a small, quiet place located in Randolph County, in the state of Indiana, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Washington Township.
History of Carlos
Carlos has a simple but interesting history. It once had its own post office, which is a place where mail is handled.
The Post Office Story
The post office in this area first opened in 1882. Back then, it was called "Carlos City." A few years later, in 1895, the name was shortened to just "Carlos." The post office served the community for many years, helping people send and receive letters and packages. However, like many small post offices, it eventually closed down in 1976. Even though the post office is gone, the name Carlos remains for this community.
