Carlos Agostinho do Rosário was born on October 26, 1954. He is a politician from Mozambique, a country in Southeast Africa. He served as the Prime Minister of Mozambique from January 17, 2015, to March 3, 2022.
He is a member of the FRELIMO political party. He worked under President Filipe Nyusi. Before becoming Prime Minister, he held many important jobs. He was a government worker in the 1970s. He also served as the Governor of Zambezia Province. Later, he became a Member of Parliament. He was also the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. After that, he worked as a diplomat in Asia. He was the ambassador to Indonesia before becoming Prime Minister.
His Journey to Leadership
Carlos Agostinho do Rosário was born in Maxixe. This city is in Mozambique. He studied economics at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo. Maputo is the capital city of Mozambique.
He then went to the United Kingdom. There, he studied how to make farming better and help rural areas grow. He earned a special degree called an Msc. In 1977, he started working for the government. He worked in the Ministry of Public Works. He stayed there until 1983.
From 1980 to 1982, he taught classes in the evenings. He taught at a school called Instituto Industrial de Maputo. In 1983, he became the main economist for a farming company. This company grew citrus fruits in Manica.
In 1987, he became the Governor of Zambezia Province. This meant he was in charge of that area. He also led the Provincial Committee. In 1994, he was a member of the Assembly of the Republic for a short time. This is like being a member of parliament.
Soon after, he became the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. He worked in this role until 1999. After that, he became a diplomat. He was Mozambique's High Commissioner to India and Sri Lanka. This was from 2002 to 2008.
In 2009, he became the Ambassador to Indonesia. He also worked as ambassador for Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and East Timor. He held these jobs until President Filipe Nyusi chose him as Prime Minister. This happened on January 17, 2015. In January 2020, he began another term as Prime Minister. On March 3, 2022, President Nyusi removed him and six other ministers from their positions.

Carlos Agostinho do Rosário loves football. He even played for the junior national team when he was younger. When he was working as a diplomat in Indonesia, he started a football team for diplomats.
