Adriano Afonso Maleiane (born on November 6, 1949) is an important politician and economist from Mozambique. He served as the Prime Minister of Mozambique from March 3, 2022, until January 15, 2025.
Early Life and Education
Adriano Maleiane studied economics at Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique. He also earned a special degree in finance from the University of London in the United Kingdom. This education helped him prepare for his future roles.
His Career in Government
Adriano Maleiane has held many important jobs in Mozambique. From 1991 to 2006, he was the governor of the Bank of Mozambique. This is like being in charge of the country's main bank.
Later, from 2011 to January 2015, he led the Banco Nacional de Investimento (BNI). This is Mozambique's special bank that helps with big projects.
Since January 19, 2015, Maleiane has been the Minister of Economy and Finance. He works in President Filipe Nyusi's cabinet. This means he helps manage the country's money and economy.
On March 3, 2022, he was chosen to be the Prime Minister. This is a very high position in the government.
