Carlos Germano Schwambach Neto, known to many as just Carlos Germano, is a famous former Brazilian footballer. He was an amazing goalkeeper who played for many top teams.
He was part of the Brazilian national team that won the 1997 Copa América. He also helped his country reach the final of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.

Carlos Germano's Football Journey
Starting Out at Vasco da Gama
Carlos Germano began his football adventure in 1985. He was discovered by a manager from Vasco da Gama. This manager invited him to try out for their youth team. In the very same year, Carlos Germano became the main goalkeeper for the youth squad.
When Vasco's senior goalkeeper, Acácio, left the club, Carlos Germano quickly stepped up. He became the team's number one goalkeeper. He helped Vasco win many trophies and was even chosen as the best goalkeeper in the Brazilian Championship in 1997.
Moving to Other Clubs
In 1999, Carlos Germano left Vasco da Gama. He then joined Santos in 2000. After one year, he moved to Portuguesa.
From then on, he played for several different clubs. He even returned to his first club, Vasco, for a short time. In 2005, he signed with FC Penafiel, a team in Portugal. He finished his playing career there in 2006.
Playing for Brazil
Carlos Germano also represented his country on the international stage. He played for Brazil in youth tournaments, like the 1987 FIFA U-16 World Championship. He also played in the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship. In 1988, he was chosen as Brazil's goalkeeper for the South American U-20 Championship.
He played 9 games for the senior Brazilian team between 1995 and 1998.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing football at the end of the 2005–06 season in Portugal, Carlos Germano started a new career. He became a goalkeeping coach. He now teaches other players how to be great goalkeepers, just like he was!
