Carlos Johnson is a talented American blues guitarist and singer. He was born on January 17, 1953. What makes him special? He is left-handed! But he plays a right-handed guitar upside-down. This is a unique style, like famous guitarists Otis Rush, Albert King, and Jimi Hendrix. Carlos is known for his powerful and exciting guitar playing. He has been a big part of the Chicago blues music scene since the 1970s. He has also played on recordings for other great musicians, like Billy Branch and Son Seals.

Carlos Johnson's Journey

Carlos Johnson was born in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. In 1989, he went on his first tour to Japan. He played with singer Valerie Wellington. Japanese blues fans really liked his music. He went back to Japan in 2004. This time, he was a supporting guitarist for Otis Rush. Otis Rush could not play guitar himself because of a stroke. These concerts helped Carlos gain many fans in Japan.

Even though he was active since the 1970s, Carlos did not release his own album until 2000. That year, his first CD, My Name Is Carlos Johnson, came out. It was recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was also featured on Billy Branch's CD in 2002. This album was called Billy Branch & The Sons of Blues featuring Carlos Johnson. Carlos also made an album with Billy Branch as a duo. It was titled Don't Mess with the Bluesmen and released in 2004. Another CD, In and Out, came out the same year from Mr. Kelly's Records. In 2007, he released a live album. It was called Live at B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted and recorded in Chicago. He toured Japan as a solo artist in 2007 and again in 2009.
