Carlos Sánchez García, born on January 19, 1978, is a Spanish former football player. He was a goalkeeper, which means he protected the goal and stopped the other team from scoring. He played for several clubs during his career, including Real Madrid.
Playing for Clubs
Carlos Sánchez started playing football in the youth team of CD Leganés, a club near his hometown of Madrid. In 1999, he joined one of Spain's biggest football clubs, Real Madrid. He played as the main goalkeeper for their younger teams, Real Madrid B and Real Madrid C.
He even got to play one game for Real Madrid's main team! This happened on December 23, 2001, when other goalkeepers like Iker Casillas couldn't play. His team drew 1-1 against RCD Mallorca.
Carlos was usually the third-choice goalkeeper for Real Madrid. Because of this, he was loaned out to other teams to get more playing time. From 2004 to 2006, he played for Polideportivo Ejido and UD Almería. Both of these teams were in the second division of Spanish football.
In 2006, Carlos became a free agent, meaning he could join any team he wanted. He signed with another second-division team, CD Castellón. He became their main goalkeeper in his second year, during the 2007–08 season. His team finished fifth in the league.
Carlos also won a special award called the Ricardo Zamora Trophy that year. This award is given to the goalkeeper who lets in the fewest goals in a season. He only let in 27 goals in 33 games, which was a fantastic achievement!
In 2010, after Castellón was moved down to a lower league, Carlos, who was 32 years old, returned to Madrid. He joined an amateur team called CD Puerta Bonita. After he stopped playing football professionally, he started working as a goalkeeper coach for CD Leganés, the club where he began his youth career.
