Carmel, Ohio facts for kids
Carmel is a small place in Highland County, Ohio. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History
Carmel got its name from a local church called Mount Carmel. A post office was opened in Carmel in 1856. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1913.
