Carmelina Moscato (born May 2, 1984) is a Canadian soccer coach and a former professional player. She is currently the head coach for the Saudi Women's Premier League club Al Qadsiah. Carmelina played as a defender for many teams around the world. These included clubs in Italy, Sweden, and the United States. She also played 94 games for the Canadian national team.

Early Life and Youth Soccer
Carmelina Moscato was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Her parents were from Sicily. She started playing soccer when she was just four years old. Her first team was Dixie SC.
She went to St. Hilary Elementary School. Later, at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School in Mississauga, she was named the Most Valuable Player for her soccer skills. She also played for a club team called Burlington Flames.
College Soccer Career
Moscato attended Pennsylvania State University from 2002 to 2005. She helped the Nittany Lions soccer team win four championships. These were the Big Ten regular season championships.
During her time at Penn State, her team reached the semifinals of the College Cup twice. This happened in 2002 and 2005. In 2002, her team made it to the Final Four in the NCAA Championship. They also became Big Ten Champions that year.
Professional Club Career
Playing in Canada, Italy, and Sweden
Moscato joined the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2003. She played in five games during her first season. In 2004, she helped the Whitecaps win their first W-League championship. She scored three goals and made three assists that season.
After that, she joined Ottawa Fury in 2005. Overall, she scored five goals and made five assists in 14 games for the Whitecaps. This places her among the top players in Whitecaps history.
From 2009 to 2010, Moscato played for UPC Tavagnacco in Italy. This was in the Serie A, which is Italy's top women's soccer league. She scored one goal in 15 games as a defender. In July 2011, she moved to Sweden. She joined Piteå IF, a club in the Swedish Damallsvenskan league. She started in all ten of her games there and scored one goal. She also played one game for Dalsjöfors GoIF in 2012.
Playing in the NWSL
In 2013, Carmelina Moscato joined the Chicago Red Stars. This was for the first season of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She played in five games for the Red Stars.
Later that year, she was traded to the Boston Breakers. She played five more games for them. On September 10, 2013, she was traded again. This time, she went to Seattle Reign FC for the 2014 season.
International Career for Canada
Carmelina Moscato was only 16 years old when she played her first game for the Canadian U-20 national team. This was on February 6, 2001. She played in the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship. Canada hosted this tournament. She played in all six matches and helped Canada reach the final game.
On April 3, 2002, Moscato played her first game for Canada's senior team. She played in major tournaments like the 2002 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup. She also played in the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup.
After taking a break, she returned to the national team in 2009. She played for Canada in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany. She also played in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Some of her biggest achievements with the team include:
- Winning the 2010 CONCACAF Tournament.
- Winning the Cyprus Cup in March 2011.
- Earning a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Coaching Career
Carmelina Moscato has also had a successful coaching career. She was an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin. She also coached for the Louisville Cardinals.
In August 2016, Moscato coached Canada's women's under-15 team. They finished in second place at the 2016 CONCACAF Girls' U-15 Championship.
In 2017, she worked as the Talent Manager for the Canadian REX Development program. From 2018 to 2020, she was an assistant coach for the Canadian women's U20 team. She also worked as the Technical Director for a youth soccer team called Kleinburg Nobleton SC in 2019.
Moscato became the head coach of the FC Nordsjælland women's team in July 2021. In June 2022, she was named Technical Director and head coach of Liga MX Femenil club Tigres UANL. She was the first woman and first non-Mexican person to hold this role. Tigres won the Apertura Liguilla championship in 2022 under her leadership. This was the first time a foreign-born coach won a title in Liga MX Femenil history.
On June 2, 2023, Moscato announced she was leaving Tigres Femenil. On February 19, 2024, Racing Louisville FC announced that Moscato had joined them as an assistant coach. On July 21, 2025, it was announced that Moscato left Racing Louisville to become the head coach of Al Qadsiah in the Saudi Women's Premier League.
Administrative Career
Moscato also worked in Australia as a Director and Coach. She was part of the Illawarra Stingrays Women's Senior Program.
In September 2019, Moscato was named the Commissioner of the League1 Ontario Women's Division. She left this position in December 2020. In February 2021, she became the Director of Women's Football for the Bahamas Football Association. She left this role later that year.
