Carneys Point is a community in Salem County, New Jersey. It is not an official town or city. Instead, it is called an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a place recognized by the government for counting people, but it doesn't have its own local government separate from the larger Carneys Point Township.
In 2010, about 7,382 people lived here. The area got its name from Thomas Carney, one of the first European settlers. He was part of a group of Irish immigrants who arrived in 1727. Later, after World War I, a company called DuPont built homes for its workers here. They named the community after Thomas Carney.
