Carp is a small, unincorporated community in Owen County, Indiana. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. It's found in the northeastern part of Montgomery Township.
Carp is located near the meeting point of US Highway 231 and County Road 50 East. This spot is also known as Rocky Hill Road. The community is about eight miles north of Spencer, which is the main town and county seat of Owen County. Carp sits at an elevation of 722 feet (220 meters) above sea level. Its exact location is 39°23′6″N 86°45′39″W / 39.38500°N 86.76083°W.
Community History in Carp
A post office was opened in Carp in 1885. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for nearly 20 years. It closed down in 1904.
