A Look at the Carpenter Hotel's History

The Carpenter Hotel was first opened in 1904 by a woman named Nellie Carpenter. When it first started, it had six rooms for guests and a dining room where people could eat.

Over the years, the hotel grew bigger. In 1935, a new two-story part was added. Five small guest cabins were also built, giving more space for visitors.

For many years, the hotel was a very important spot in Atlantic City. From 1930 to 1953, the town's post office was actually located inside the Carpenter Hotel! This made it a central meeting place for everyone.

After Nellie Carpenter passed away, her family sold the hotel in 1963. Even today, the Carpenter Hotel continues to welcome guests, keeping its long history alive.
