This area was once known simply as "Carr." A post office opened there in 1884, helping people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing in 1918. Long ago, there was also a schoolhouse in the community called the Carr Lane Schoolhouse. The name "Carr Lane" comes from a local family named Carr who lived in the area.
