Carter Manley, born on April 29, 1996, is an American soccer player. He plays as a defender. Currently, he plays for San Antonio FC in the USL Championship league.
Carter Manley's Soccer Journey
Starting Young: Youth and College Soccer
Before going to college, Carter played soccer for two years at Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He also played for club teams like Bethesda Soccer Club and Olney Rangers.
Carter then went to Duke University. He played college soccer for four years, from 2014 to 2017. During this time, he played in 58 games, scored 1 goal, and helped set up 12 goals for his team.
While he was in college, he also played in the PDL for a team called D.C. United U-23.
Becoming a Professional Player
On January 19, 2018, Carter Manley was chosen in the first round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. He was the 23rd player picked overall by Minnesota United FC. He officially signed with the club on February 20, 2018.
Carter played his first professional game on March 24, 2018. He started the game against the New York Red Bulls.
In July 2018, Carter was loaned to Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL Championship. Being "loaned" means he temporarily played for another team. He played his first game for Las Vegas Lights on August 15, 2018. He came into the game as a substitute in the 79th minute.
In April 2019, Carter was loaned out again. This time, he went to Forward Madison FC, which was a team connected to Minnesota. He played his first game for Forward Madison on April 6, 2019. He played the entire game against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
Minnesota United decided to release Carter from their team at the end of the 2019 season.
On July 9, 2020, Carter Manley signed with a new team, Rio Grande Valley FC, which also plays in the USL Championship.
Then, on January 5, 2022, Carter moved to another USL Championship team. He signed with his current club, San Antonio FC.
