Casa Pomar facts for kids
Casa Pomar is a special apartment building in Barcelona, Spain. It's located at 86 Carrer de Girona. This building is a great example of a unique art and architecture style called Modernisme.
Who Designed Casa Pomar?
The building was designed by a talented architect named Joan Rubió y Bellver. He was from Catalonia, a region in Spain. Joan Rubió lived from 1871 to 1952. He was also a student of the very famous architect Antoni Gaudí. Building Casa Pomar started in 1904 and was finished just two years later, in 1906.
What Does Casa Pomar Look Like?
Casa Pomar has a front that isn't very wide. On the first floor, you can see a cool "bow window." This is a window that curves outwards, like a bow. Above this special window, there are several balconies on the floors higher up.
The bottom part of the bow window is made from green ceramic tiles. It also has fancy designs made from wrought iron. Wrought iron is a type of strong metal. These designs were inspired by the neo-Gothic style. This style brings back ideas from old Gothic buildings, but with a new twist.
