Castaway (TV series) facts for kids

Castaway is an exciting Australian TV show made for kids. It first aired in Australia on the Seven Network on February 12, 2011. This series is a follow-up to another show called Trapped from 2008.

The show actually premiered earlier in Sweden, starting on November 1, 2010, before it was shown in Australia. It tells the story of a group of young people who get stranded on a mysterious island.

The Story of Castaway

The series follows a group of kids who were previously trapped on an island. Six months later, they try to escape by building a raft. However, a big storm hits, and their raft breaks apart. This leaves them shipwrecked on a completely new island, separated from each other.

Finding Each Other

Ryan and Josh find themselves stuck in a hole. Jarrah, Gabe, and Zuke also manage to find each other. Lily and Em stay together as well. But Natasha and a mysterious girl from the previous series are missing. Ryan and Josh are rescued from the hole by a girl named Saskia, who is also stranded on the island. However, Ryan isn't sure if he can trust her.

Mysterious Strangers and a New Camp

As the kids explore, they encounter strange people wearing masks. These masked figures chase Em and later kidnap Zuke. Lily and Em eventually reunite with Ryan and Josh. Saskia seems to know the masked strangers, which makes Ryan even more suspicious.

The masked strangers capture Ryan and his friends (except Natasha and the mystery girl). They are held in a cage at a camp filled with other kids, but no adults. Ryan escapes and returns to the camp in disguise to save his friends and get back an important "antidote" that Saskia had stolen.

Life at the Camp

Ryan and his friends decide to stay at the camp for a while. They learn that the other kids at the camp are also children of scientists. These scientists were imprisoned by Dr. Hamilton, Natasha's father. The kids at the camp believe the antidote is magical and can protect them.

The camp leader, Dionne, doesn't want the kids to leave. She shows Ryan a place where other kids who tried to escape were found dead. Ryan throws away the antidote to protect everyone, but later finds a special package.

Discoveries and Betrayals

During a search for honey, some of the kids find an old carriage. It belonged to Gabe's mother, Cath Schwartz, who is also missing. Ryan discovers that Dionne has the antidote. Meanwhile, Saskia tries to make up with Josh, but he's still upset with her.

Ryan and Jarrah are kicked out of the camp without the antidote. Saskia secretly gives it to Josh, who then gives it to Ryan. As Ryan, Jarrah, and Gabe travel to find Dr. Hamilton, Jarrah finds Natasha and the mystery girl, Hope. Natasha has hurt her ankle.

More Challenges and Relationships

Natasha and Hope are brought back to the camp. Jarrah gets bitten by a snake, so they have to return. Back at camp, they help Natasha with her ankle. Ryan and Natasha have some romantic drama, and kidnappers try to take the kids. Saskia seems to be helping the kidnappers. Lily starts to like Josh, even though he's with Saskia.

Lily and Jarrah become very suspicious of Saskia. They find a codebook and a note written in Morse code, proving Saskia is working with the kidnappers.

Leaving the Camp and New Bases

The kids plan to leave the camp, but Zuke accidentally makes a house fall down, so they stay to rebuild it. Jarrah and Zuke decide to stay at the camp. Natasha reveals that she is Dr. Hamilton's daughter.

Ryan, Natasha, Gabe, Josh, and Lily leave the camp to find their families at the Enterprise base. Em secretly follows them and joins the group. Ryan and Natasha are still arguing, but they find an old Enterprise base, which was where the kids back at the camp originally came from.

Danger and New Alliances

The group runs out of food and water. They are being watched by a "Snatcher." Em steals the antidote and runs away but is convinced to return. They chase the Snatcher. Ryan and Natasha find an old caravan where Dr. Hamilton started his research. A Snatcher overhears Natasha say she's Dr. Hamilton's daughter and kidnaps her.

Everyone is on high alert. They capture a spy who turns out to be a kid named Ned. Ned reveals that Dr. Hamilton isn't at the Enterprise Base and someone else is in charge. Ryan and Gabe go to check out the camp and find no adults. Natasha introduces Ryan to her old friend and the camp leader, Eli Fox.

Uncovering the Truth

Ryan and his friends are suspicious of Eli and the base. Natasha tries to convince them that everything is fine, saying that pharmaceutical companies caused the problems and her father is finishing his research legally. Ryan snoops around and accidentally destroys some research. He later finds a map showing a "Forbidden Area."

Ryan goes to the Forbidden Area and needs Eli to save him, but he still doesn't trust Eli. Lily realizes she doesn't like Josh anymore, and Josh overhears her. Eli tricks Natasha into bringing the cart with the antidote back to camp. Eli then steals the antidote.

The Final Confrontation

Gabe finds out that Bonnie, a girl at the camp, is actually his sister, Ebony. He also learns that the kids at the base are being forced to work. Ryan plans to steal algae to make a deal with Eli, but the plan goes wrong. Natasha finds the antidote on Eli's desk, and he admits Bonnie faked being sick. Natasha leaves Eli, but Saskia tricks her into thinking Eli likes her, making Natasha go back to him.

Eli tries to find more kids for the base. Jarrah tries to steal their boat to save her brother Zuke, who has been captured. Jarrah allows herself to be captured to save Zuke. Saskia reveals that Eli was just using Natasha, and Natasha apologizes to Ryan. However, Ryan breaks up with Natasha when he learns she approved the snatchers going back to the community.

The Escape and Reunion

The kids learn that only one boat will come to pick up Eli and Natasha, leaving the rest of the kids stranded forever. Saskia finds out and decides to go back to the old camp with Josh to get Dionne, Zuke, and the others to help hijack the boats.

Josh and Saskia convince the other kids to join them. Ryan finds out about the boat plan and ruins all the algae. Bonnie learns about the single boat and is locked up by Eli. The only boat leaves with Eli and Natasha. They reach the Enterprise base but are thrown out because they have no algae and Dr. Hamilton doesn't want to be disturbed.

The boat at the base is fixed. Josh and Ryan try to go to the city by boat but are rescued by a fisherman who works for Dr. Hamilton. They are chased and eventually caught and locked up by Eli and another man named Marcus. They were looking for the antidote, which Natasha had given to Gabe.

All the kids arrive at Dr. Hamilton's base and hide. Lily, Em, Josh, and Saskia search for their parents. Ryan and Gabe look for Dr. Hamilton. Lily and Em find Gabe's mom. Eli finds Gabe and Ryan, claiming Natasha wants the antidote because he's dying from one of his own antidotes. They get to him in time, but Eli steals the antidote again.

Lily finds everyone's parents locked up. With Saskia and Josh, they release everyone, and families are reunited. Natasha and Ryan chase Eli by boat. Ryan tackles Eli, and almost all the antidote spills out. Only one drop is left, which Natasha uses to save her dying father. Dr. Hamilton wakes up and apologizes to Natasha. Ryan and Natasha hug and kiss, and the series ends with everyone safe.
