The Castejón Mountains (called Montes de Castejón in Spanish) are a mountain range in Spain. They are found in the Cinco Villas area of Aragon. These mountains are about 30 kilometers (19 miles) north of Zaragoza. They get their name from the town of Castejón de Valdejasa, which is right in the middle of the range.

What are the Castejón Mountains Like?

The Castejón Mountains have low forests. These forests are often spread out. They are mostly made of Carrasca (which is a type of holm oak) and pine trees. Sometimes, during dry periods, these forests can have wildfires.

Important Peaks

The highest point in the range is a peak called Esteban. It stands 747 meters (2,451 feet) tall. Other important peaks include Guarizo (745 meters), Pogallinero (639 meters), Escalerilla (585 meters), and Lomaza (476 meters).

Different Names for Parts of the Range

The northwestern part of these mountains has other names. It is sometimes called Sierra de Erla. This name comes from the town of Erla, which is further north. It can also be known as Montes de Sora. This name refers to the old Sora Castle.

Wind Turbines

You can also see wind turbines on some of the higher parts of the mountains. These turbines help to make electricity from the wind.
