The Castle of Buitrago del Lozoya is an old castle located inside the historic walls of Buitrago del Lozoya. This town is in the Community of Madrid region of Spain. In Spanish, it is called Castillo de Buitrago del Lozoya.
A Look at the Castle
This castle was built a long time ago, in the 15th century. It shows off two cool styles of building: Gothic and Mudéjar. Gothic style often has tall arches and big windows, while Mudéjar style mixes Christian and Islamic art.
The castle has a rectangular shape. It also features seven towers, and each one is a different shape! Some are round, some are pentagonal (five-sided), and others are square. All parts of the castle are made from stone, which makes it look very strong and old.
Today, the inside of the castle is mostly in ruins. But even so, its strong walls and towers still stand tall, showing us what it once looked like.
A Protected Treasure
In 1931, the Castle of Buitrago del Lozoya was given a special title: Bien de Interés Cultural. This Spanish phrase means "Property of Cultural Interest." It's like saying the castle is a very important historical site that needs to be protected and preserved for everyone to enjoy.
