Catarina Furtado, born on August 25, 1972, is a famous Portuguese TV presenter and actress. She is also a special ambassador for the United Nations, helping young people around the world. Her father, Joaquim Furtado, is a well-known journalist.

Catarina Furtado's TV Journey
Catarina started her TV career in the early 1990s. She worked for big TV channels like SIC and RTP. She also worked on radio stations such as Rádio Comercial and RDP Antena 3.
Early Roles and First Big Success
Even when she was younger, Catarina had a small part in a movie called Non, ou a Vã Glória de Mandar. Later, she acted in several films. These included Killing Time, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival, and Fatima.
Catarina's first big success came when she hosted Top + on RTP. This was a popular music show that played music videos and showed the weekly music charts. This led her to host an MTV Portugal program on the SIC network. She then presented many different shows. One popular show was Treasure Hunt (Caça ao Tesouro). For this show, Catarina often arrived in Portugal's smaller towns by helicopter!
Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest
On January 8, 2018, Catarina Furtado was chosen as one of the four hosts for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. She hosted this big international music event alongside Sílvia Alberto, Daniela Ruah, and Filomena Cautela.

Catarina Furtado has family roots from Goa, India, through her mother's side. Her great-great-grandfather was born in Candolim, which was once part of Portuguese Goa.

Catarina studied dance at the Conservatório Nacional until 1990. She also trained in journalism. She studied drama in London from 1995 to 1997 at the International School of Acting. She also learned acting methods at Lee Strasberg's Method Studio in England.
Catarina was married to João Reis, who is an actor. They were married from 2005 until 2023. They have two children: a daughter named Maria Beatriz, born in 2006, and a son named João Maria, born in 2007.
