Catarina Ruivo started her journey in filmmaking by studying at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon. This is a special school where people learn how to make movies and plays. After her studies, Catarina Ruivo directed and edited a short film called Uma Cerveja no Inverno (which means A Beer in Winter). Her first full-length movie was André Valente. This film was released in Portugal, France, and Spain. It was also shown at many film festivals around the world.
