Catherine Frot (born May 1, 1956) is a famous French actress. She is known for her work in both movies and theater. She has been nominated for the César Award, which is France's version of the Oscars, ten times.
She won the César Award for Best Actress for the movie Marguerite in 2015. She also won for Best Supporting Actress in 1996 for the film Family Resemblances. Some of her other well-known movies include Le Dîner de Cons (1998) and Haute Cuisine (2012).

Early Life and Education
Catherine Frot was born in Paris, France. Her father was an engineer, and her mother was a mathematics teacher. She has a younger sister, Dominique, who is also an actress.
From a young age, Catherine was good at comedy. When she was 14, she joined the conservatory (a special school for music and arts) in Versailles. In 1974, she started studying at the Rue Blanche , a famous theater school in Paris.
Acting Career
Starting in Theater
In 1975, Frot helped start a theater group called the Compagnie du Chapeau Rouge (Red Hat Company). They performed at the famous Festival d'Avignon, a major arts festival in France.
After that, she focused on acting in plays. She performed in many classic plays, such as La Cerisaie in 1982 and La Mouette in 1985. Her talent on stage made her a well-respected theater actress.
Success in Movies
Frot also became a big star in French movies. In 1996, she won her first César Award for her role as Yolande in the movie Un air de famille (Family Resemblances). She was praised for being both funny and touching in the 1999 movie La Dilettante.
Over the years, she has played many different characters. Her work has earned her many award nominations. For her contributions to French culture, she was made an officer of the Ordre national du Mérite, which is a high honor in France.
