About the Movie
This film is about a talented chef named Hortense Laborie. She is chosen for a very important job. Hortense becomes the private chef for the President of France. Her job is to cook all his meals at the Élysée Palace. This is where the French President lives and works.
Main Characters
The movie features several interesting characters. Here are some of the main actors and who they play:
- Catherine Frot plays Hortense Laborie. She is the amazing chef.
- Jean d'Ormesson plays The Président. He is the leader of France.
- Arthur Dupont plays Nicolas Bauvois. He is another character in the story.
The Story of a Special Chef
Hortense Laborie is a chef from the countryside. She is known for her traditional French cooking. Her food is simple but very delicious. The President loves her cooking. He enjoys her authentic dishes.
Working at the Élysée Palace is not easy. Hortense faces challenges from other palace staff. They are used to a different way of doing things. But Hortense stays true to her cooking style. She focuses on making the President happy.
Behind the Scenes
Making a movie about the President's chef was exciting. The filmmakers wanted it to feel real. They even got to film in a very special place.
Filming at the Palace
Parts of Haute Cuisine were filmed at the real Élysée Palace. This is a very rare opportunity. The film crew had only three days to shoot scenes there. They could only film when the President, Nicolas Sarkozy, was not at the palace. This made the filming very tricky and special.
Iceland as a Stand-in
Some scenes in the movie take place in the Crozet islands. These are small islands in the southern Indian Ocean. It was too hard to film there. So, the film crew went to Iceland instead. They spent six days filming in Iceland. It looked enough like the Crozet islands for the movie.
