About Catherine Mary MacSorley

Catherine Mary MacSorley was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1848. She was the oldest daughter of Catherine and Rev. John James MacSorley. Her father was a church leader, serving as the rector of St. Peter's Church in Dublin.

The family lived in Ranelagh Road before moving to Harcourt Terrace. After her mother passed away in 1910, Catherine lived with her sister, Mary Gertrude, in Harcourt Terrace for the rest of their lives.

Many of Catherine's books were published by a group called the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK). This group helped share her stories with many readers.

She also wrote a hymn, which is a type of religious song. This hymn, called "We thank Thee, O our Father," was written in 1890 for the children of Saint Peter’s School.

Catherine Mary MacSorley passed away in Dublin in 1929. She was buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery.
