Catlin Adams (born October 11, 1950) is an American actress, acting coach, and film director. She is known for her roles in movies like The Jerk and The Jazz Singer. She has also directed several TV shows and films.
Early Life and Training
Catlin Adams was born as Nira Barab on October 11, 1950, in Los Angeles, California. When she was just 14 years old, Adams became the youngest actress ever to join the famous Actors Studio.
At the Actors Studio, she learned from many talented teachers. Her main mentor was Lee Strasberg, who taught her until he passed away. She also learned from other great artists like Stella Adler, Harold Clurman, Lee Grant, Gary Austin, and Ellen Burstyn.
Career Highlights
Catlin Adams is a graduate of the American Film Institute, a well-known film school. She directed a TV movie called "Wanted: A Perfect Guy". This film starred a young Ben Affleck and won two Emmy Awards and a Directors Guild Award.
Later, Adams directed a movie called Sticky Fingers. She also helped write and produce this film with Melanie Mayron.
One of Adams' first acting jobs was in the 1968 TV series The Rat Patrol. She also helped start a famous improv comedy group called The Groundlings. This group creates funny scenes on the spot without a script.
