Melanie Joy Mayron (born October 20, 1952) is an American actress and director. She has worked in many films and TV shows. Melanie is well-known for playing the photographer Melissa Steadman in the TV drama thirtysomething. For this role, she won an Primetime Emmy Award in 1989. She was also nominated for the same award in 1990 and 1991. In 2018, the Santa Fe Film Festival honored Melanie for her great work in movies and television.

Melanie Mayron was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother, Norma, was a real estate agent, and her father, David, was a chemist. Her family is Jewish.
Melanie studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 1972. She also went to the Actors Studio to learn more about acting.
Melanie's Acting Roles
Melanie Mayron started her acting career in the 1970s. She appeared in the 1974 film Harry and Tonto. She also acted in movies like Gable and Lombard and Car Wash in 1976. In 1977, she was in The Great Smokey Roadblock and You Light Up My Life. She starred in the 1978 film Girlfriends.
In the mid-1970s, she played Sandy Franks, a best friend, on three episodes of the TV show Rhoda. In 1982, she played Terry Simon, a photographer, in the movie Missing.
Melanie's Directing Work
Melanie Mayron is also a talented director. In 1988, she helped write and produce the comedy film Sticky Fingers. In 1995, she directed The Baby-Sitters Club, a movie based on the popular book series.
She also directed TV movies like Toothless (1997), which starred Kirstie Alley. She directed the movie Slap Her... She's French (2002), which was also known as She Gets What She Wants on TV.
Besides directing episodes of thirtysomething, she has directed many other TV shows. These include In Treatment, The Fosters, Dawson's Creek, and Jane the Virgin. In 2015, she started The Living Room Sessions on YouTube, where musical artists perform in her living room.
More recently, she has directed episodes of popular shows like GLOW, SEAL Team, and the 2018 Charmed reboot.
