What the Movie is About
Kristy Thomas is the leader of "The Baby-Sitters Club." She decides to start a summer day camp for all their young clients. Her best friend, Mary Anne Spier, and Mary Anne's stepsister, Dawn Schafer, offer their backyard for the camp. All the club members – Kristy, Mary Anne, Dawn, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, Mallory Pike, and Jessi Ramsey – promise to watch the kids carefully.
Kristy's Family Secret
Kristy faces a challenge when she meets her father. He had left her family seven years ago and started a new family. Kristy isn't sure how to tell her friends and family about this. She only tells Mary Anne, who helps her keep the secret.
Kristy promises to help Claudia study for a science test. But because she is spending time with her father, Kristy can't keep her promise. The club members and some of their clients later perform a rap song to cheer Claudia on. She needs to pass her test to avoid repeating the eighth grade. If she fails, she might have to leave the club.
Stacey's New Crush
Stacey has a crush on Luca, who is 17 years old. As they spend time together, Stacey finds it hard to tell him about her age. This problem comes up when they go to a club in New York City. A security guard won't let Stacey in because she is too young. Luca is surprised to learn Stacey is only 13.
Meanwhile, Dawn has a problem with their neighbor, Mrs. Haberman. Mrs. Haberman gets annoyed by all the camp activities happening next door.
Kristy's Birthday and Surprises
Kristy's 13th birthday arrives. She plans to go to an amusement park with her father. She promises her friends she will still make it to her own party. Kristy goes to meet her father, but he doesn't show up. She starts walking home.
Suddenly, her friends arrive in Luca's car. Mary Anne had told them about Kristy's father. Luca drives the girls to Mallory's parents' cabin. They surprise Kristy with a birthday cake.
As Stacey says goodbye to Luca, he tells her he will return to Stoneybrook next year. Stacey is happy and tells him she will be 14 then. They share a quick kiss before Luca leaves.
A Gift for the Neighbor
To make up for the noise, the girls give Mrs. Haberman their greenhouse. Kristy then sees something amazing happen. Jackie Rodowsky hits his first home run in baseball. The ball accidentally hits Cokie Mason, who is sitting in a tree nearby.
