History of Cavour
The town of Cavour was first planned out in 1880. It was named after a famous Italian leader, Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour. He was an important statesman who helped unite Italy in the 1800s.
When a Tornado Struck Nearby
On June 24, 2003, a very strong tornado, called an F3 tornado, passed close to Cavour. It happened around 9:30 PM. Luckily, the tornado missed the town by about 1.5 miles, so Cavour was safe.
