Cawsand Bay gets its name from the nearby village of Cawsand. This charming village sits just northeast of the Rame Peninsula. The bay itself faces east, opening up into Plymouth Sound. Plymouth Sound is a large natural harbor where the rivers Tamar and Plym meet the sea.
Where is Cawsand Bay Located?
Cawsand Bay is about 3 miles (5 km) southwest of the city of Plymouth. If you were to fly like a bird, that's how far it would be! The bay stretches about one mile (1.6 km) from side to side. Its entrance, or mouth, is about one and a half miles (2.4 km) wide. To the south, the bay is bordered by a place called Penlee Point.
