Cayce (pronounced KAY-see), also known as Bainville or Banesville, is a small, quiet community located in Marshall County, Mississippi, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
A Look Back at Cayce's History
The community of Cayce was first known as Bainsville. People started settling here a long time ago, even before the American Civil War began in 1861.
A post office served the community, first under the name Banesville from 1884 to 1888. Then, it changed its name to Cayce and operated from 1888 until 1907. In the year 1900, Cayce was a very small place with only 36 people living there.

- Rufus Thomas was a well-known American musician and comedian. He was born in Cayce, Mississippi. However, he spent most of his childhood growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, where he became famous for his music.
