Cañoncito is a small community located in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. It is not a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it is known as an "unincorporated community."
Cañoncito is found about 11.5 miles (18.5 km) southeast of the city of Santa Fe. It is situated right along Interstate 25. A very important historical site, the Nuestra Señora de Luz Church and Cemetery, is located within Cañoncito. This church and cemetery are so special that they are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are recognized for their historical importance.
