Cecil Youngfox was born in 1942 in Blind River, Ontario. His parents were from the Ojibwe and Métis communities. From a young age, Cecil was passionate about learning about all Indigenous peoples in Canada.

He wanted to help people understand Indigenous cultures better. He worked hard to break down wrong ideas about Indigenous people. His art helped share their traditions and stories with people all over the world.

Cecil's artwork often blended his Métis background with his Christian beliefs. He became a very important artist in Canada. He helped make Indigenous culture more popular before he passed away in 1987.

He was also given a special honor called the Aboriginal Order of Canada. This was for his important work in inspiring young people from First Nations communities.
