Cee Vee is a small place in northwestern Cottle County, Texas, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. Instead, it's managed by the county. In 2000, about 45 people lived there.
Cee Vee's History
Cee Vee started on land that used to belong to a big ranch called the CV Ranch. This land was sold in 1927. The next year, in 1928, the new settlement got its own post office. William Newson became the first postmaster, who is the person in charge of the post office. Postal rules usually didn't allow names made of just initials. But they approved "Cee Vee" when Newson asked for the name "CV" for the post office.
How Cee Vee Grew
Around 1929, a cotton gin was built in Cee Vee. A cotton gin is a machine that separates cotton fibers from their seeds. This helped the community grow. Soon, Cee Vee had two general stores, a barbershop, and a place to buy animal feed. By 1929, different church groups, like Methodists, Baptists, and the Church of Christ, had also formed. These businesses served many farms in the area. In 1940, about 50 people lived there, and they had two stores. By 1980, the population grew to 71 people, and the post office was still open. The population stayed at 71 in 1990, then went down to 45 by 2000.
Even though Cee Vee is not a city, it still has its own post office. The ZIP code for Cee Vee is 79223.
