Paducah is a small town located in Cottle County, Texas, United States. It is the main town and the county seat of Cottle County. In 2020, about 1,063 people lived there. This was a bit less than the 1,186 people who lived there in 2010. Paducah is just south of the Texas Panhandle and east of the Llano Estacado, a large, flat area of land.

Discovering Paducah's Past
Paducah got its name from a city in Kentucky. A settler named Richard Potts, who came from Paducah, Kentucky, helped start the town. He offered land to new people if they voted to name the town Paducah. They also voted to make it the county seat, which means it became the main town for the county's government. Paducah officially became the county seat in 1892. It became an incorporated town in 1910.

Paducah is located in the southern part of Cottle County. The town covers an area of about 3.9 square kilometers (about 1.5 square miles). Almost all of this area is land.
Three major U.S. highways meet right in the middle of Paducah.
- U.S. Route 83 goes north to Childress (about 32 miles away) and south to Guthrie (about 28 miles away).
- U.S. Route 70 goes east to Crowell (about 36 miles away) and west to Matador (about 31 miles away).
- U.S. Route 62 follows US 83 north from town and US 70 to the west.

Paducah has a semi-arid climate. This means it's usually dry, but not a desert. It gets some rain, but not a lot. The weather can be very hot in summer and mild in winter.

Learning in Paducah
The students in Paducah go to schools that are part of the Paducah Independent School District. The town is home to the Paducah High School, whose sports teams are called the Dragons.
Famous Faces from Paducah
- William S. "Bill" Heatly was a well-known person from Paducah. He was a Democrat who served in the Texas House of Representatives. This is a group of people who make laws for the state of Texas. He was a representative from 1955 to 1983. People sometimes called him the "Duke of Paducah."
