Early Life and Education
Celeste O. Norfleet grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After finishing school, she went to Moore College of Art and Design. There, she earned a special degree in fashion illustration. This means she learned to draw pictures for fashion.
After college, she worked in advertising. She started as a graphic artist. Later, she became a creative art director. This job involved leading teams to create ads.
Becoming a Writer
In 1991, Norfleet moved to Northern Virginia. A few years later, she started reading many romance novels. She loved them so much that she decided to write her own.
Her first romance novel was called Priceless Gift. She sold it in 2001, and it was published in 2002. This book was the start of a series called the Mamma Lou Matchmaker series. She has written 11 books in this series. Overall, Norfleet has written more than twenty novels.
Books for Teens
In 2007, Celeste Norfleet wrote her first book for young adults. It was called Pushing Pause. This book got great reviews from readers.
Pushing Pause was the first book in The Kenisha Lewis Series. This series is written for both teens and adults. The other books in this series are Fast Forward and Gettin’ Played.
Today, Norfleet writes romance novels full-time. She also writes dramatic stories for young adults. These stories often talk about issues that African-American teens face. She has written for different publishers, including Harlequin.
Awards and Recognition
Celeste Norfleet has won several awards for her writing. She has received six awards from Romance Slam Jam (RSJ). She also earned a special lifetime achievement award from them.
