Cenchat, Georgia facts for kids
Cenchat is a small place, also known as an unincorporated community, located in Walker County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. An unincorporated community is a neighborhood or area that doesn't have its own official town or city government.
History
Cenchat once had its own post office, which is a place where people send and receive mail. This post office was open for a few years, from 1902 until 1909.
The community's name, Cenchat, comes from two important train lines, called railroads, that met nearby. The name is a mix of parts from the names of these two railroads: the Central of Georgia and the Chattanooga Southern. So, "Cen" comes from "Central" and "chat" comes from "Chattanooga."
