Cenk Gönen's Football Journey
Early Career and Denizlispor
Cenk Gönen started his professional football career with Denizlispor. After playing for one season in 2006–07, he became the main goalkeeper for the team. In the 2007–08 season, he was given the important number 1 jersey. His great performances at Denizlispor caught the attention of bigger clubs.
Moving to Beşiktaş
After his impressive time at Denizlispor, Cenk moved to one of Turkey's biggest clubs, Beşiktaş. This happened in 2010. He signed a five-year contract with them. During his time at Beşiktaş, he played in many important matches.
In February 2014, during a game against Galatasaray, Cenk had a scary moment. He accidentally bumped into a teammate while trying to save the ball and briefly lost consciousness. Luckily, he recovered.
Playing for Galatasaray and Other Clubs
After Beşiktaş, Cenk Gönen joined another major Turkish club, Galatasaray, in 2015. He continued his career playing for different teams, including Málaga in Spain, Alanyaspor, Denizlispor again, Kayserispor, and Esenler Erokspor. As of 2024, he plays for Çorluspor.
Personal Life
Cenk Gönen comes from a family of goalkeepers! His uncle, Ali Artuner, was also a famous goalkeeper. Ali Artuner even played for the Turkish national team.
